A new OECD Survey of Adult Skills shows literacy and numeracy skills among adults have largely declined or remained stagnated over the past decade in most OECD countries.
The Survey measured the skills of around 160,000 16-65 year-olds across 31 countries. It looked at how literacy, numeracy and problem solving skills are used at work. It aims to provide insight of how developing and using skills improves employment prospects and quality of life as well as boosting economic growth.
One of the findings is that only Finland and Denmark have seen significant improvements in adult literacy skills over the past decade.

“There are various reasons why people dream of living in a different country, but the pursuit of a career can make that dream a reality,” the company shared in a statement provided to Travel + Leisure about its study. “Today, people’s ambitions and chosen careers can take them anywhere they want to go. “Canada is most frequently selected for relocation among the nations reviewed, making it the most popular destination for people to work that isn’t their home country,” Job Seeker added in its findings. “A desire to work in Canada is the most prominent trend among job seekers in Costa Rica, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.”
Australia came in at No. 2, as it was “chosen by seven other nations, including Denmark, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom.” It was followed by Switzerland, the United States, Singapore, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Qatar, and Spain rounding out the top 10.
