Canadians are examining which outdoor equipment companies they should be supporting and looking closer at what brands they should be buying.
Vancouver-based outdoor apparel and goods retailer Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) sells Vista Outdoor brands, including Giro, Camelbak and Blackburn.
Utah-based Vista Outdoor Inc. also designs, develops, and manufactures ammunition, long guns and related equipment under such brands as Federal Premium, Bushnell, and Savage Arms.
Thank you @mec members who contacted us with your concerns about Vista Outdoors. Senior mgmt will be discussing this first thing on Monday. We’ll have an update for you later in the day.

Aleksandra Sagan, The Canadian Press:
Mountain Equipment Co-op says it’s asking tough some questions about its supply chain after consumers on social media connected some of the brands sold at its stores to a major U.S. ammunition and gun manufacturer.
“We’re gathering facts, listening to our members and figuring out the best path forward for our co-op,” the Vancouver-based company said in a tweet Monday.
“MEC is committed to responsible supply chain practices and transparency and we will continue to be guided by those values.”
